Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2, 2026

Overview

GradePoint ("we," "us," or "our") operates getgradepoint.com and related free academic calculators. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how advertising cookies are used (including Google AdSense), and the choices available to you. By using GradePoint, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the site.

Our goal is simple: give students accurate GPA and final-grade estimates without requiring accounts or uploading transcripts. That design choice also shapes our privacy practices — calculator inputs stay on your device whenever possible.

What we collect

GradePoint is designed to collect as little personal information as possible. The grades, credits, course names, and GPA figures you type into our calculators are stored only in your own browser using localStorage. They are never transmitted to, or stored on, our servers. Clearing your browser data or clicking a calculator's Reset button removes them completely.

We do not require accounts, and we do not ask for your name, school ID, student number, or email address to use the tools. If you contact us by email or through the Contact page, we will use the address and message content only to respond to your request and will not sell that information to third parties.

Like most websites, our hosting and content-delivery providers may automatically receive standard server logs such as IP address, browser type, referring URL, and timestamps. These logs are used for security, reliability, and aggregate traffic understanding — not to build profiles from your calculator inputs.

Cookies and local storage

We use two categories of browser storage:

  • Functional localStorage — saves your entered courses and calculator inputs so your work survives a page refresh. This data never leaves your device and is not shared with advertisers.
  • Advertising cookies — GradePoint is supported by advertising served through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may set cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. These cookies help Google deliver relevant ads, measure ad performance, limit how often you see the same ad, and prevent fraudulent activity.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Doing so may affect how ads are personalized and, in some cases, how certain third-party features load. Functional calculator storage uses localStorage rather than cookies; clearing site data removes both.

Third-party advertising (Google AdSense)

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

Google AdSense may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect information about your interactions with ads and the pages you visit. That information helps determine which ads are shown and whether ads were displayed correctly. GradePoint does not control Google's cookie practices; they are governed by Google's own policies.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices. European users may also visit www.youronlinechoices.eu. Learn more about how Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps at Google's Partner Sites Policy.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal information, or to object to certain processing. Because GradePoint does not store calculator inputs on our servers, most course and GPA data can be deleted by you directly (Reset or clear browser storage). For contact emails we hold, you may request deletion by writing to us through the Contact page.

If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the CCPA / CPRA regarding categories of personal information collected, sold, or shared. We do not sell personal information for money. Advertising partners may process device identifiers and browsing activity for personalized ads as described above; use the opt-out links in this policy to limit that activity where available.

  • Right to know what personal information is collected about you
  • Right to request deletion of personal information we hold
  • Right to opt out of sale/sharing of personal information where applicable
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights

Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand overall traffic (page views, referral sources, popular calculators). We do not build individual user profiles from calculator inputs, and we do not sell personal data. Analytics tools, if used, are configured to support site improvement rather than cross-site tracking of your grades.

Data retention and security

Calculator data retained in localStorage remains until you clear it or your browser removes it. Contact messages are retained only as long as needed to respond and for ordinary business records. We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect the site, but no method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure.

Children's privacy

GradePoint is a general-audience informational tool. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a contact email, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

External links

Our pages may link to third-party sites (for example, Google Ads Settings or educational resources). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Review their policies before sharing information with them.
